Mainland-born Liang Huan came to Hong Kong with her daughter Li You Hao in the 1980s to be reunited with her husband, Li Gao Shan. However, he dies unexpectedly leaving Liang Huan to fend for her late husband's teahouse. The widowed Liang Huan remains indomitable amidst adversity. Fortunately, she has the help of Li Gao Shan's friends, Luo Yi Tong and Lao Jin, as well as the support of the teahouse staff. During Hong Kong's return to China in 1997, the new generation represented by Li You Hao, Luo Zi Liang, Luo Zi Kang, Lao Yong Yi, Lao Yong An and Xie Lang Geng have all grown up to become members of society. They experience the height of the Asian financial crisis, the SARS epidemic, and the subprime mortgage crisis in the United States.
